A Day in the Life of a Hypnotherapist

Embarking on a career in hypnotherapy is both rewarding and challenging. For over 30 years, I have had the privilege of being a hypnotherapist, a calling that brings me immense joy and satisfaction. Each day, I witness the transformative power of this therapy in the lives of my clients.

Wellington-Based Practice

Based in Wellington, I operate from two clinics. The Manuka Health Centre in Petone, where I work alongside GPs and other health practitioners, offers a collaborative environment for holistic care. My main clinic, located in central Wellington, is where I spend most of my week, from Tuesday to Friday, welcoming clients into a space dedicated entirely to hypnotherapy.

The Start of the Day

My day usually begins with a 90-minute session, particularly for new clients. This extended time is vital to understand their needs and goals. It’s a period where I get to know what’s troubling them and what they wish to achieve through hypnotherapy.

A Solution-Focused Approach

Each session is uniquely tailored to be solution-focused. It’s about helping clients visualize their desired outcomes - what their achievements would look, sound, and feel like. This method isn’t just about tackling issues; it’s about paving a pathway to the life they aspire to lead.

A Busy Schedule

I typically see 23 to 26 clients per week, with back-to-back sessions. This schedule demands high concentration and empathy, highlighting the intense, yet fulfilling, nature of this profession.

Diverse Client Issues

The range of issues my clients bring is vast - from anxiety and phobias to chronic pain and habit changes. Each case is unique, which keeps my work dynamic and continually challenging.

The Joy of Helping Others

The most rewarding aspect of my work is seeing the positive changes in my clients. Many have faced obstacles for years and, through our sessions, find new ways to overcome these challenges. It’s not just about symptom relief; it’s about empowering individuals to lead more fulfilling lives.

Being a hypnotherapist is more than a profession; it’s a journey of helping others unlock their potential and rewrite their narratives. It’s a calling that I am privileged to have, where the trust my clients place in me is as humbling as it is motivating. As I continue to practice in the heart of Wellington, each day reaffirms my passion for this life-changing work.
